Human Centred Design

Description for the new page.

Human Centred Design

What is it?

When a user interacts with a service or a product, design is already at play - and too often that design has not properly identified who the users are and what it is they are needing to do at any given time.

Human Centred Design is about designing processes, services, products, systems and entire organisations for the people who need to use them. It puts those people at the heart of everything.

By considering all the stakeholders in a scenario, identifying bias and not relying on assumptions, problems can be solved before they even happen. Thorough research, questioning and testing, along with good visual design, can produce powerful and effective results.

Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand

Te Whatu Ora is New Zealand’s governing body for the health industry. It manages all health services, including hospital and specialist services, and primary and community care.

I worked as a Senior UX/UI Designer on the Hira programme - a large programme of work to centralise and provide access to digital health data.

Inspiring the Future

As a Senior UX/Service Designer at the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC), I worked for two years developing Inspiring the Future Aotearoa. Part of an Agile team, I had the opportunity to contribute and often lead everything from user research and stakeholder relationships, through to design for digital, print and collateral.
